The Danish language is difficult to learn as it has an enormous vocal vigor and many elements that are distinctive and are not signaled in Danish orthography.
DANSG LYD is a phonetic system designed specifically for people learning Danish. The system is based on smileys, which illustrate the position of the tongue and the opening of the mouth, respectively. These smileys have been simplified and used as supporting characters underneath the letters.
A letter is replaced by a phonetic character if it sounds different than it is written, and DANSG LYD thus shows pronunciation as something detached from the written text.
